Hi People, I am not a taxi driver, have no intention of becoming one, I am in road haulage, but I have some questions about an idea I have and thought this would be the ideal place to get them answered. I have been looking for a van to use with my small haulage business to carry tools, spares etc and to use for general running about, problem is they are quite expensive to insure, so I thought I might buy an ex London cab to do the same job (Carbodies/Fairway/LTI etc). Also, it would be a little bit different. Is there any reason why I should not do this? What are they like for fuel economy? Would I be able to insure it ok? What are they like at speed, 70mph plus? Should I be worried by 300,000+ mileages or can these vehicles take it ok? What would be the best place to search for retired taxis, other than ebay? Are there any other pitfalls I should be aware of? Many thanks |
