This is old news from 2004 but some may have never heard of this if they weren’t living in Costa Rica at that time. Back in December 2004, a Costa Rica man by the name of Leonel Arias, decided it would be funny to dawn a mask of Osama Bin Laden and jump out in front of cars wielding a pellet gun. The idea was soon realized that it wasn’t so smart to do such a thing 3 years after the September 11th attacks in The United States, when a taxi cab driver claiming self-defense fired 2 rounds from a handgun through his window hitting Mr. Arias twice in the stomach. The taxi cab driver, Juan Pablo Sandoval, was questioned by police shortly after the incident and release with no charge because the Fuerza Publica concluded he did in fact act in self-defense and was scared for his life at the time. I don’t think anyone will be pretending they are Osma Bin Laden anymore in Costa Rica.
