Taxi fares rise being considered
The cost of using taxis in parts of Shropshire could rise under plans being considered by councillors.
Taxi firms in Whitchurch and Market Drayton want the price of a one-mile journey to go up from £3 to £3.50 and two miles would go from £4.50 to £5.20.
Cab drivers have said they need the extra money to account for factors such as rises in fuel.
North Shropshire District Council's licensing committee will have to decide whether to allow the rises on Monday.
It is the first time since 2004 that taxi drivers in the area have asked for a rise in fares.
