Passenger jumps from moving taxi
A man is seriously ill in hospital after jumping out of a moving taxi on North Tyneside.
The passenger opened the rear door of the private-hire car as it was being driven on Norham Road, North Shields.
He was taken to North Tyneside General Hospital with serious head injuries after the incident early on Sunday.
Police are trying to trace the taxi's two other male passengers, who were dropped off moments earlier near the road's junction with the A1058.
All three had been picked up from Hillhead Road in Whitley Bay.
