Three die in taxi cab collision
Three people were killed and another was critically injured in a crash involving a taxi and a car on a road in Bedfordshire.
Two passengers in the taxi were among those who died in the collision on the A421, near Bedford, in the early hours.
The driver of a Vauxhall Astra, which was involved in the crash, was also killed, a police spokeswoman confirmed.
A fourth person, a passenger in the Vauxhall Astra, remains in hospital in a critical condition.
Details of those killed have not yet been released by police, who are still attempting to trace the next-of-kin.
Meanwhile, an investigation is now under way and officers are seeking information about the crash, which occurred at about 0215 GMT as both vehicles were heading towards Bedford.
Anyone with information about the crash, which took place close to the junction of Stewartby Town, is asked to contact Bedfordshire Police.
