I have just been told tonight that some council are getting there heads together and forming one body.
The councils supposedly are .......................................
Derwentside, Alnwick, Berwick-upon-Tweed, Wansbeck, Blyth Valley, Castle Morpeth and Tynedale
Whats the crack with this ? does anyone know ?
It might be shit because I was told today by my council "Derwentside" that in April 2009 they are moving to Durham ( sort of the same district ) Co Durham.

would this be set up as one large regional licensing section?
i wonder if the old licensing boundaries would stay in place or could it be one plate for all areas with in the outer boundaries of the above.

Steve 2 geniuses just me winding you up good naturedly, Within the GMB Northern region there will be many Councillors well able to brief their members on this issue first stop Billy Coates 1 Moseley Street Newcastle Upon Tyne ne1 1ye 0191 233 3930.
NOTE I SAID BRIEF THEIR MEMBERS!!! we dont supply services to non members.
What you need to consider is,if there is to be a new authority created how do you influence it, firstly i would have thought would be getting elected several councillors from our industrys, should prove fairly easy via GMB. Its called foresight ie being PRO-ACTIVE plan ahead, not re-active trying to cure the mess someone else has made, making lawyers richer, forward planning on the political route will prove successfull. Ignore it or cant be botherd, as up to now YOU pay the price. Organisation works Micky Pollard proved it to a degree time to tank it up get stuck in, this authority without Drivers influence could prove catastrophic to the trade if you allow it by ignoring your options to influence it!

Was briefed yesterday on this issue, and yes 2 LAs will replace the present set up, and not suprisingly they are already discussing PH and Hack requirements. An organised GMBPDB inthe area could prevent much grief. If you choose too ignore the option, thats your problem, we wont represent non members. Remember its only your livliehood at stake, and many of the decision makers are GMB associated! Our advice get organised ensure your industries future.The trade could be vastly improved if you care???

Jon Cruddas and the Compass group initially started this dangerous hare running with their proposals to cut the trade unions' percentage share of the vote at conference. Brown has taken this to its logical conclusion with his proposal of a total removal of the right of trade unions to vote on policy decisions.
This is a real kick in the teeth for all those trade union general secretaries who loyally nominated Brown to the leadership of the party.

On another point you illiterate inferior mental capacity seems incapable of recognising the considerable damage your peurile un-organised petition on the vital issue of driver qualifications has done. By the way I took part in the course on a voluntary basis, meaning no one told me to do it.

It meant we acquired a VRQ qualification ( That means very little as far as being qualified goes but by doing that it will no doubt lead to better things )....

The point of this thread is to discuss and swap info on a very significant development which will undoubtedly affect many Hack and PH drivers in the North East. It might do everyone some good to stick to the subject and stop promiscuous womanging off other posters who we may not agree with but who are trying to assist the industry in their own way.
I have no doubt myself that an organisation with a decent amount of members will achieve better results than many individuals each trying to put forward their personal view.
You only have to look at the practicalities of it, will a Council say they have listened intently to Mr Joe Bloggs of High St. , Anytown and have decided his ideas were representative of the trade OR will they listen to a national union who have hundreds of members locally, and then say they have decided the unions ideas are representative of the trade?
ps The ideas of each might be equally good or Mr Smiths might even be better but he only represents himself and no self respecting council can take them as representative of the Trade as a whole.
