Hello all,

I am about to purchase a car to operate as a Private Hire vehicle.

I have heard diesel is recommended, what do you all think? Petrol seems slightly cheaper, so assuming not as economic ?

So petrol or diesel ? Which should I choose and why ?

Hi Tony, in my opinion the only way to go is diesel, you have longer periods in between services Up to 10000 miles in most modern vehicles. The average yearly mileage that you will do is about 15000, The performance level of a modern day car is as good as most similar petrol versions, however for cabbing youwill need a cc of at least 1800,and perhhaps a common rail injection system. One of the best cars for cabbing is the skoda superb, speak to other drivers, and definately the taxi-centre for a very good deal.
