Hi Everyone,

If you are waiting for your minicab licence and would like to know how my first day went then read on, If you dont care then i suggest you stop reading now lol....

Before i start, I thought it would be easy i mean how could driving a car picking people up / off be hard? well you'll soon find it takes abit of knowledge to earn the £££ and make it worth while.

Well Saturday i started cabbing, (The company i am with use a Xda so no radio - which is one the main reasons i went with them)

Anyway, I started late as i just wanted to learn not earn, So 11AM i signed on and got my first job sent to me, Although i was nervous it was quite enjoyable the address was Sainsbury HITW, Well i know where sainsbury is but what the hell is HITW ??? No one told me the lingo so i phone up my control and asked, they told me is was the whole in the wall around the back (Totally different road to sainsburys) Anyway job done and then moved on.

I stopped working around 6PM And went to the office to pay my commission £15 XDA Fee £20 commisson £30 petrol =£30  =  £65 i only earned £63 so I was down £2 worried and dissapointed.

Anyway i leanrned alot that day which i used on Sunday, started at 11 and finished at 8pm with a better take home of £125 And hopefully this will improve with the friday and saturday nights.

The company i work for charge 80p a job and 20% commision on the amount i earn with a weekly fee of £15, this is quite high and if i earn enough i will just start paying rent of £104 p/w + 80p a job we'll see.

Anyway , I am only doing this part time to help pay the bills. I just thoughts i would share my experience.. sad i know lol

Thanks for the diary of your first day. I wonder how mine will go.

I'm just currently waiting to do my council and DSA driving test, then a medical... so I probably won't be on the road for a couple of months still. I'm kinda worried I won't make any money at all.

I'll report on my first day circa October with any luck.

If your margins are that tight you need to protect the cash you are earning, and not run the risk of being turned over late one evening by some drunken punter. Fit a surveillance camera and protect yourself.

Contact itrew@verifeye.com and I'll let you have all the information.

TO all you newbies .must agree with ian4VERIFY cctv will undoubtably give you a far better chance of retaining the hard earnt wonger !and give you greater protection, there are many suppliers out there but be warned not all systems come up to drivers requirements .see ATTACKS ON DRIVERS.
