Warning to Bradford Taxi Drivers
Police in Bradford are appealing to taxi drivers to take extra care following a number of robberies this month.
Five drivers have been targeted by a man asking to be taken to various locations in the city, and on each occasion he has attacked the taxi driver and demanded money. Before the attack the man has chatted with the drivers and asked them if they'd had a busy night.
The suspect is described as an afro carribean / west indian male, aged 16 - 20 years, between 5ft 5 and 6ft tall with short black hair. He is of a slim build and has a local accent. He was wearing a black hooded top and dark bottoms.
Detective Inspector Mabs Hussain of Bradford South CID said: "I would urge taxi drivers to be careful when picking up fares. If they're not sure about someone, don't take them. If they pick someone up and then realise there may be a problem, drive to a public place and contact the police."
Anyone with any information is asked to contact DI Hussain on 0845 60 60 606.
