Hi all,
I've been working as a cabbie for several years but been with the last taxi firm for just over 3 months. The management were being awkward from the start and verbally informed me they had received some complaints. Of the complaints they told me of, I spoke to some of the customers myself & they said they had no reason to complain.. Without any written warning/notice I was called by the owners who took my radio and told me I was dismissed. I have lost out on my busy Easter period & left jobless. When I told them I would be seeking legal advice -they told me I could do nothing as I was self employed. Is this true??

Unfotunately homecab, that is about the size of it
Why don't you get a proper job???
Paul, sorry mate your on the wrong track.as drivers could be classed as acting under company direction ,ie via radio and working shift times etc, etc. any union member could take up this issue ,with the free legal provision provided ..
Homecab.take note of Pauls avatar(he suffers from tourets).....oh -shite,given the game away he,s still trying to get a proper job,any way i would suggest that a man called Terry Flanagan might be able to help you he can be contacted on 07958-275339 give him a ring.[ Paul must be driving you crazy] WHO AM I ?]
Thanks for "coming out" Don, you will have noticed the I do not get involved in threds that involve pro-anti union discutions............they just send me to sleep
