18 Feb 2008 8:28 PM Alert

Last October i received a call from a member regarding being stopped and charged with using a mobile whilst driving at Heathrow. This member was adamant that he was doing no such thing, I invited him  too meet me with the relevant documentation, upon reading it it was clear too me that  the filthys were at it again! Well its ok knowing it but how do we deal with it? Firstly check his membership, and hes upto date then meet with Legal officer and discuss representation, obviously this could prove expensive, we dont want a solicitor on this we need a Barrister, fortunately our legal officer has enough knowledge of  the filths corruption and agrees to roll out a barrister. After a couple of ajournments, a normal tactic for the filth, it pushes up costs. Today in a London court the filths case is thrown out with the "comment there a far too many inconsistencies in the polices evidence" So what you might say, well for one what driver could afford such expert representation [besides the independent genious] if he could afford it how could he find it ? [no win no fee briefs are renowned for their inadequacys]  easy be in the GMBPDBs! Cost to our member £2.10p a week [what a rip off] This peace of mind could be yours of course so why not join now?? Oh and by the way this member is Jewish, i am sometimes  accused  by ignorant specimens being a racist, really!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

PS had this driver lost this case he could possibly been banned from driving and then lost his PCO licence! worth thinking about???????????

The lesson only imbeciles ignore UNIONISATION!

Never ever trust the filth!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Representation individually when a member has a case (Taxi drivers as well if circumstances arise - before some halfwit comes in and says what you do for us though). Representation collectively on issues that affect us all. I believe you a North West and Southern member and a national officer will be seeing that minister tomorrow on O licences and excessive working hours being forced on chauffeurs. If that stops one rape or one major accident it will be worthwhile.
By Christ I would have loved to have seen the look on their faces when the GMB barrister walked in.
Making others conscious of what is achievable can get frustrating with the outrageous levels of stupidity displayed by certain elements in the industry but we persevere.
Fantastic work Don has been doing as well today sorting out the BBC and the safety campaign

You may consider yourself to be bottom of the shitheap SLC but I consider myself as a professional person doing a professional job in providing services to my customers.

I must also point out that during my time I have recieved a massive amount of help from all levels of Police Officers and through our help in certain instances a mutual respect has grown. Calling these people filth may well get support from some ....................... but who do they ring after an attack, I'm sure they'd rather see a blue flashing light than another taxi sign.

You see, this is what so infuriates me about the views of a minority ...................... they are not my views, I believe totally the opposite in fact ....................... I suppose you'd say that would make me a bad trade unionist.

Never mind though boys ..................... oh yeah ................ god save the QUEEN.

Have you gone potty. The False precedent that you put forward on this occasion in relation to how anyone within the industry might view themselves and the industry is not the point it is the perception of us generally outside of the industry that needs to be addressed.

As far as the OB are concerned they will clearly have good and bad like any other trade, to deny there are dirt bags out there who give the others a bad name by fitting people up and the like, would be like denying there is garbage in our trade. Which I thought was the point of the associations and the union working together to build properly representative bodies that will clean the industry up and clear out th unscrupulous and the spiv's.
The penultimate paragraph is a gem and I'll have a pint of whatever it is you've been drinking.
AND NOBODY ELSE INCLUDING ME THINKS YOU AR A BAD TRADE UNIONIST

But that is something I have been working on changing for many years SLC ........... and good working relationships with all relevent authorities is where the process starts and ends.

Implying that all Police Officers are "filth" does nothing to lift our reputation .................. even though the GMB hs a good working relationship with TOCU and bad experiences of some beat officers, it goes nowhere in cementing relations with either group when you tar the good ones with the same brush as the bad ones.

Thats what many people are trying to stop people doing to our trade ................... maybe you should accept that we also should be doing the same.

Some individual Officers deserve to be regarded as filth, I agree and am aware of some up here that are a cause for concern to the honest officers ...................... tarring all of them with the same brush is just like us getting tarred with the same brush as our worst colleague ........... and we don't like that.

Being careful with the lanuage used is important ....................... as people will judge you upon what you say, they rarely asked for it to be fully explained.

I understand the point you are making ad there is a good deal of validity in it. Relationships with organisation like the police, the licensing authorities and more importantly the politicians is important. However, from my viewpoint it is the member’s interests that come first and I would not like to be in a position that a member’s interest had to be sacrificed to maintain a relationship with an authority.
Honesty should be where it begins and ends, that man was fitted up the police got what they deserved and after putting a GMB member through the nightmare that poor sod must have gone through I have no objection to my branch secretary getting wound up and calling them filth. It's because the interests of the members come first genuine trade unionists get so wound up in the first place.
It seems to me that finding the balance is the key
I exaggerate to make the point but if you were wrongly arrested what is the first thing you want going through your union reps head, How quickly can we get THE BANDIT IS INNOCENT leaflets done or Oh dear we better not do anything to upset our relationship with the authorities.
Clearly you would have to do some thinking rather than reacting to the first thoughts but I think you should understand the point I am trying to get across.
If you do get nicked change your bloody avatar

Bandit youve got a good point there concede that occassionally the old red mist comes down, but Police being involved in a criminal conspiracy to deprive one of MY members of his livlihood does somewhat aggravate???????????????????? Good job for him I was determined and he was INTELLIGENT enough to be a member.

Wolfie ................ I just think more could be achieved if the thread had been entitled "This is the reason some Police are known as THE FILTH" ..................... but you run the PDB as you see fit.
