hiya people found the site why looking for information on taxis, im a rossendale hackney taxi driver, own my own firm, run 8 taxis, rossendale is in lancashire we have a very active union of wich i am chairman of , i represent 283 drivers and have to fight the same old battles with our council as you lads seem to but we dont do to bad, now ive found this site i will surely be refering to it for advice, just wanted to say hello great site and info |

| our union is rossedale taxi association, we formed about 8 years ago maimly hack drivers also some private, our membership at the moment numbers 283 but other areas in lancashire are looking to merge, we fight the licenssing department on behalf of our members do agree numbers give you a lot more clout, will be looking at your site and passing the details on thanks for the info |

Fox interesting weve found the political route best option not interested in making lawyers rich!
As for numbers GMB has 600,000 members 112 MPS 12MEPs and thousands of local councillors!

Hi there Glenn, sounds like a good association you've got there.
We've got one in Crawley but it only has limited effect outside our own licensing area. ( we had a major problem with cross-border licensing of Operators by another Council).
I joined the GMB as it seemed to me that being in a big national union would have much more impact when talking to Councilors/Licencing Officers in both our own and particularly other areas than if we were only the Crawley Assn.
It doesnt stop us running our own local show though...next meeting with Council 6th March.
I'll post if there is anything of national import. ( Maybe foreign students) |

| intresting comments, i wil be giveing you a ring would like to know more as you say safety in numbers, i can then run it by the members,we have just lost a big fight with our council who have just doneaway with our 3 yearly badge, and have replaced it with a 12 monthly , at a staggering 70 percent increase, we fought this since october last year but sadly got beat at the eleventh hour, we are now takeing them to court for a judical review , since taxi money payed to your local council can only be used for taxi purposes, we have information leaked to us that our money is going elsewhere,hence the big hike in licensing fees, they have 30 days to give us the true figures and i believe there flaping like a bird without wings, il keep you posted |
