I picked a couple of blokes up tonight and as the post subject says one let a big stinking fart go.
He was so concerned to empty his arse to the max he even pulled on the back of the front seat.
It was "gowpen" it made my eyes water the dirty stinking barstuart.....he said "sorry mate I couldn't help that" and the two of them laughed..
By this time I had all windows DOWN and was hanging out gagging for air...
I told him how much of a dirty stinking t*at he was and seems I was picking up where they were getting out, that fart cost me a fare !
Would you consider a fart to be "soiling" and should we charge for it ?
I mean it is a body function but then again so is been sick and we charge for that.
I once had a bloke get in and I smelt shit ! I thought he was filling his undergarments but NO he had it on his foot,
I had to stop. it was humming and said "mate have you got shit on you" ? he looked and spotted it on his shoe....and said aye mate I thought it was you that had farted....HE THEN wiped the shit on my mat in the back and proceeded to clean his shoe......I couldn't believe it ..the ceent...
I was going off it in a nice way...flung the mat out and told the lad to remove his shoe and put it in a bag I provided until we arrived at the drop off point.
He wouldn't take the shoe off so it resulted in me asking him to leave and pay part soiling charge for the stink and the cost of the carpet I threw away.
Which he said to me he never had the money ( £15 ) + the fare.....so what do we do in them situations ?
Is farting soiling ? or has it got to be chit ?
Steve
I am not laughing so why are you ? |

Something to be desired ?
Some of them simply could not give a flying feck about the vehicle they are in or the driver that is taking them to where they want to go.
( I think that this is quite common around here )
Mind you not all customers are like that , some are absolute gems and I would do anything to assist and help them.
BUT apart from a fart soiling ones underpants is the stench classed as soiling of the vehicle.

| STEVE i can only sympathise with you.I have had many similar incidents, isnt it strange that these only seem to happen when its pissing down or when its below freezing so opening all the windows allows the elements in.Remember that some boffins are looking at methane as an alternative fuel...........so millions of exausts will push out the type of gases experienced by cab drivers!!! |

This has reminded me of an incident that happened many years ago to a colleague of mine.
He pick up an old girl off the rank and she had one of those little dogs that old girls have under their arm.
After dropping her off he was on his way back to the rank and thought to him self, "funny smell in here".
When he got back to the rank he discovered that the dog had shat on the back seat!
Oh how we laughed |

Why don't you get a proper job??? |

I know your right there, "you need air but you get rain".
I bet the methane used as fuel will not fonk like a fart though !
It is bound to be the leaner greener version

I know it sounds a good laugh but the poor driver would of had to remove the shit and then try and get rid of the "stink" of the crap. Wouldn't you think these customers would have a bit respect.
Its like when some get in with the kids and let them walk on the seats....Makes me bloody mad !
We take hours to clean our cars and keep them respectable for the public and all it takes is one irresponsible parent with an un-ruley child to make your car look like a builders van. |

Cant believe what you just posted Steve, parents let their kids walk the seats, your have a wind up surely, you driving without minors belted up is an offence which YOU are liable for. You the driver have the legal responsibility! NOT the parent to ensure they are wearing seat belts YOU can get points on your licence for this and find problems with your LA resulting in you losing your Hack or PH licence. You the driver are responsible for all minors wearing seat belts at all times. Perhaps I missread your post???????????

EDUCATE AGGRAVATE ORGANISE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
OK Terry you push me into detail what I took for granted most educated members would have filled in the gaps without having me to explain myself.
Step 1, I pull up ON time Smartly Dressed and Car clean inside and out to collect a passenger from there home on a wet miserable day.
Step 2, I get out of my Taxi and open the door for the passenger who is shouting to there Un-ruley child .
Step 3, The parent picks the child up that has done 4 laps of the flower bed in little red wellies and is up the tits with mud.
Step 4, Thinking the parent will remove the little red wellies or take the child back indoors to clean the papa off she promptly and swiftly stands the child on the rear seat before I have time to yell NO DON'T DO THAT and climbs in so the kid has done a full length of the seat.
Step 5, She places a seat belt on the child and then on herself.
I explain that she has let the child apply mud to the rear seat and now I can not use the car until it is clean
Step 6, The Parent ignores me as if I have spoken in a foreign tongue.
Step 7, I think well lets take them to where they are going and get rid of the irresponsible parent and her muddy child as she is not taking any notice to me apart from saying sorry but there is hardly any mess.
Step 8, I get in the car and drive toward the required drop off point. On the way I state there is a charge for soiling the vehicle.
Step 9, She said oh is there and Carry's on talking to her child and her mates on her phone.
Step 10, We arrive at the drop off point ! The meter fare is £3.60 ...She gives me £5 and awaits her change. I give her the change, she removes the seat belt from the child and her self and opens the rear door, I mention the soiling charge again after seeing the mud on the seat. I point it out to her. She looks at me and says FU@K OFF.
I hope you can get the picture now Terry.
I am and always will be very safety conscious for my passengers and myself.
I always abide by the law, I always ensure belts are worn by all.
If it was not illegal Terry I could show you footage from my in-car CCTV what will show my high level of service and how I always abide by the law.( But that can not be viewed simply to prove points )
I can even prove now that I NEVER SPEED as all my journeys are on camera showing external wide view footage FRONT AND REAR.
So Terry maybe you did read the brief bit of post I wrote in NO DETAIL but you state things that I know is LAW in your reply.
The only thing is I can prove my actions when FALSE ACCUSATIONS are made against me like this.
Terry do you honestly think just because I post a few daft threads like this one to get people laughing and keep the forum chatting about "crap" maybe !!! I would leave myself open for prosecution ?
I Operate 100% right and pride myself on the service I give my passengers but I would hate anyone to tarnish my name by accusing me of been the bog standard run of the mill cabbie that decent folk have nightmares about.
Maybe this thread has its use after all...SHIT STICKS and a tarnished surface is hard to clean especially if the tarnishing is done in malice by a third party.
Yours Steve, Professional Taxi Driver. ( Driving to high Standards by advanced training DSA and ADI, and trained in safety and customer care / disability awareness within the Taxi Trade ).
My passion is to tidy this trade up and make it more professional.
My customers always expect high standards and they always get them thats why I rise above some companies that only have Taxi Drivers ..................
And if I was to Join any organization I will be looking for that little bit extra..and right now I do not see anyone shining through showing me that if I join I will be adding a bonus to my elite service....
Talk is cheap and type is cheaper .....I know,
I take my hat off to Mick Pollard as he has shown me the way to become professional and give "the bit more people want" ( I wonder why he is an independent person ? not part of any union or organization ! ) .
Because as an Independent you can speak aloud what you really believe in...not having to flow with the majority vote !
Times are changing believe me....Only the true professional drivers will survive ..
Over the next 10 years we will see dramatic changes that will make drivers or break drivers.
So for now Terry, Thanks for the reply you wrote.
Steve

Thanks Terry.
She is on the been told over the phone list ( in a correct and diplomatic way ) to have respect for the vehicle as she is not the only passenger of the day and there is a charge for soiling the interior of the car.
As for being independent lets hope you don't learn the folly of your ways the hard way!
I do not mean this in a bad way terry HONEST
But lately I have made very good progress been Independent !
I am not sending the message out saying do join any unions.
Let me say this without been ripped to bits !!!
Been an independent means I can say what I want, ask for what I want and offer answers to what I think is wrong. I am not an unreasonable person I am willing to listen to anyones argument or views without prejudice. I am willing to say the other person is right if they are.
BUT...( here goes i have to say it )...Taxi drivers are generally thick, they love to moan on like a women, say they are wanting to do something to change the un-professionalism linked with the trade. So what do they do ? Talk between one another on ranks etc:::::: Standing shouting the odds as if they know it all:::::::::::: Not making a flying feck of a difference to legislation but after there rant they feel relieved within themselves and drive off believing they have actually spoken aloud and they have made a relevant point. !
You see Terry..Reality mate ! its shit isn't it ?
The whole trade needs a face lift so that the word professional can be used in our job description.
So why do we not begin with standards ( entry level or existing ) the driving requirements.
I know you GMB lot can not comment on this as you need permission to fart unless you put an application form into head office....But come on...
AS INDIVIDUALS not GMB members would you choose to put your family in a Taxi...OR a Taxi that was been driven by an advanced driver that was far more aware of his surroundings and the situation on the road ?
Or I will put it another way ! You have to undergo an operation that is life threatining....you now have to choose the the surgeon ! one guy says he can do it and has just read all the books and done it before... or the Trained surgeon who can really do it because he has been fully trained !!!!!!
Would the GMB like to sign the petition I have put forward ?

The GMB represents its members, and quite obviously they make the decisions. they are the union.
Would i personally prefer a trained driver, surely thats a no brainer!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Your right they spout on the rank, or some on here, bit their efect ZILCH, for some inconceivable reason they have no spine, intellegence. education? grasp of reality? ALL the most successfull workers are organised, but still the IDIOTS dont recognise it, surely a result of Thatchers destruction of education? FFS some cant even differentiate between THEIR AND THERE , or two, too or to and want to preach to ME???????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????? See the petition post for MY reaction to it!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Steve, I can sympathise with a lot of the stuff you say there... Had plenty of people like that in the car myself.. I mix and match between day and nightshift and to be honet i'm not sure what's worse.. By day i've had hassle with peoples kids bouncing about the car like it was trampoline (Before i've driven off) and by night I get all the fun of the drunks to deal with...
I had a guy in my car a few months ago who pished out his head.. I asked him if he was ok and he said he was fine.. I gave him a plastic bag just in case and told him if he felt sick to let me know and i'd stop no problems at all... I drove about 10 metres and he puked all over the back of my car.. This was just before midnight on a Saturday night so you can imagine how busy it was..
The guy had less than a tenner on him and refused to get out of the car until i took him home.. I tried my best to reason with him but he was having none of it and blamed my driving for him being sick.. As you can imagine i was livid by this point.. I had to physically drag him out the car and practically dump him onto the street.. A passer by thought I was attacking the guy until i explained what happened and he asked if I would like him to call the police...
Nice sentiment but a waste of time...
The end result was a wasted Saturday night for me and a joyous couple of hours cleaning up someone elses puke...
Sometimes I wonder why i sill do this job.. |

Yep that is the nightmare scenario.
The bit some can not grasp is the soiling charge and why it applicable.
They think they are been ripped off when you ask for an additional charge to cover the cleaning cost .
What they do not realize is that to take a working car off the road because someone has spewed in it means it normally needs a full valet and then after the spew has been cleaned you then have to neutralize the smell and this can take hours and hours to get rid of, so the £50 charge or whatever amount it may be is in reality nothing to the loss of earnings incurred by what they have done.
The joys of Taxi driving ehh ??
