Hi,can any body help. With a recent spell of attacks and customer allegations we are looking into gettin our fleet fitted out with CCTV.The local licensing authority have requested that the footage has to be docoded with only the police or themselves being the "keyholders.Hence the cameras are around £500+,the police say that they dont care as long as the footage is time and date encoded then they can tell if its been tampered with. Many cctv stockists also say that the LA cannot tell us which camera to purchase with many AUTOCAB in particular offering cameras and one programme for in the office to veiw footage. Does any one know if the footage from a camera that the taxi company can view ever been dismiised in court as its not legal footage (under the data protection act)as our LA claim would dismiss it as evidence. On the other hand ive been told as long the vehicle has a "CCTV" warning on the doors, then any passenger entering would be agreeing to be recorded, hence you would be in your rights to record.
On the other hand if a passenger asked for a copy of the footage where would we stand.
Weve been told so many different sides has any one got the defenitive answer please
