How many more times, the Gmb is quite happy to work collectively with progressive agencies, fleet operators and proprietors who don't rip off the drivers but we are a representative organisation for drivers and while providing the services that have been outlined on here time and time again we are not here to represent the interests of those who live off of the backs of the drivers and therefore the services for any of those independent individuals living off of the drivers taking out individual membership is more or less the same for an ordinary driver.
We all know what comes next
Yeah but what do you do for the drivers.
We could explain the deals with the Taxi Centre that leaves drivers quids in
Yeah but what have you done for the drivers
The sick pay scheme
Yeah but what have you done for the drivers.
Individual drivers represented on grievances and disciplines, in court, in tribunals, in the small claims courts
Yeah but what have you done for the drivers.
I don't know who has the more severe mental health problem, the clown prince or plastic pants

SLC, I find myself in the position where I agree with the entire content of your previous post.
People who want to effect changes need to be organised, and be able to rely upon ONLY the organisation they are a member of to effect that change.
The problem for me ............. and lets be honest here ................. is that the current representative organisations are publically more intent on berating the other representative groups than they are of seeking positive communication.

Mick berating other orgs! no just attempting to get them to deny association with racist fascist scum, why should that prove difficult ? Wayne did it and full marks to him! now someone from the NTA needs to do it!
The GMB will work with ALL orgs that are credible and not recruiting individual Drivers!!or anti-union!
Proprietors need to be organised individually their powerless, where we agree were an extremely powerfull LOBBY it works in LONDON why not else where?????????????????

With the good work the GMBPDB are doing is it really important what people suggest other groups are doing?
Stand by your achievements and your intentions GMBPDB ................. drivers should be able to work the bull$hit out for themselves.

It is good to see that we agree on something at last and it is probably the most fundemental issue.
We know the NTA is more than Sefton and Carlisle and there is no doubt they must have done some first class work but if they just accepted they were a proprietors and fleet operators organisation and got on with the job of building among that section in the industry they would become that much stronger. If the communication were improved so as some of the groups wern't left out in the cold when a national meeting took place and they entered into discussions with representative driver organisations like the unions on issues that should unite us like the attacks on drivers then collectivly we might have the strength to make the Ministers act. Seeing the minister might be an end in itself for some but it is what we can influence them to do that will improve the lot of the drivers and the industry as a whole that really matters.
If the genuine union activists fight for the rights of the driver, organise effective campaigns, like the driver safety and getting funding for appropriate training that would ensure loss of earnings was minimised, if we linked up as a stronger union with a stronger bosses organisation on the issues that matter, how can anyone not see that is the way forward for all of us.
I think those who are genuine will rise above the yaboo sucks we did it bigger and better twenty years ago.
Sorry if I've offended anyone and shall we now start working together when we can to improve things all round |

Why do taxi drivers succumb to being duped ripped off by paying contributions to unions that have no status in the taxi trade. They would be more advised to pay into there own slush fund made up of friends and colleagues they work with on the ranks.or form there own association to speak to l/a on local issues. The GMB can do nothing for H/C drivers except take membership under false representation
Charlie
STILL WAITING TO SEE WHAT THE GMB HAVE DONE FOR THE INDEPENDENT HACKNEY DRIVER FFS THE QUESTION IS FAR TO HARD TO ANSWER

Yes you're right it is quite on here, probably because people aren't posting anything interesting.
Take this thread and your last two posts for instance, people going on about the GMB....not an interesting subject!
As soon as I see the letters GMB I usually go else where to find something better to read.
So Charllie, have you got something interesting to post?
Let me help you out.....do you like music? what are you into?
I really like Robyn at the moment............ "Be Mine" is a cracking tune and when that comes on the radio the volume gets cranked right up. "With Every Heartbeat" Is another good one.
Or how about the cost of fuel in your area? it's getting beyond a joke around here, 118p a litre!
Or perhaps you know some good jokes you could post up and give us all a chuckle.
I hope this is some help to you and others, I for one do not want to read about the GMB!!!!!!!!!!
POST ABOUT SOMETHING ELSE INTERESTING FFS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Maybe your right Hopper...
But then again the sh1t bag puts things in the arseholes mag and does not give the option to reply does he ?
So seems we all know he reads this forum or at least his sh1ttyarsed followers do and tell him the crack...how else will a mere illiterate driver with nothing more than an interest in the trade respond to Daisy and the Tramp ?
I mean we have had the GMB crack on here for ever and a day seems that they used to use this as the playground and recruitment office.
So the GMB talk is only normal really !
Oh and diesel is loads here, its been raining today and I had the sh1ts 2 days ago cos I scoffed a super hot curry.
Not having a go mind Hopper old spud...just posting my opinion .
