16 Dec 2007 6:20 AM Alert

On Monday 17th December, private hire vehicles will be allowed to set down and pick up passengers on the Transport for London Road Network (Red Routes0, provided they display additional signage.

So began the letter that has gone out from the PCO that signalled a tremendous victory for the Door to Door campaign in which GMB members and the Professional Drivers branch played a leading role.

The campaign proved that when scrupulous elements within the industry who are truly representative unite on the issues that do unite us, hard work and a bit of self sacrifice can achieve results.

While there is the question of bus lanes and controlled parking zones to be addressed there is also the top priority of getting the campaign for driver safety up and running.

While it took a long time to achieve and against nearly every obstacle yesterdays men could throw in its path we got there in the end

With more drivers, controllers, telephonists and others in the industry joining up and getting active more will be achieved

Working with decent men and women who run agencies but who see drivers as human beings and not rents was a pleasure.

The days of the two bob spiv's and gangsters in our industry are numbered

Failiure was predicted by the irriots, and the likes of GBC, but of course UNITY within the industry will always prevail! as Steve says the days of the 2 bob spivs and gangsters are numberd! and dont they squeal on here [NICK Capt Cab etc].

Many proprietors and their orgs were a pleasure to work with, and of course we will continue to do so!

Despite quotes to the contrary this facility will improve our service to the public considerably, the loading bays and drop off points were restricted timewise, and the loading bays were exactly that ie. goods only. Given the re-election of Ken next May i see no reason why Bus Lanes will not become available to PH.Ken has already clearly demonstrated by giving the trade congestion charge exemption and now equality with hack on red routes his appreciation of the service supplied to Londons citizens by the licensed Private Hire industry.

Quotes to the contrary surely to Christ not. The comments of the terminal buffoons organised around the north west kebab holders gazette have been showing how representative they are in relation to the safety campaign claiming that the drivers might not like it, cctv's might invite loutish behaviour and other such pitiful gems it was beneath a reply.

But even this lot can't be that daft that they are arguing that it is a good thing when elderly and disabled private hire users are made to walk part of the way to their destinations and pick up's because we are not allowed to pick up and drop off in the red routes?

Or did I see somewhere in the minutes of the meeting of the mindless that they couldn't agree on private hire drivers having access to bus lanes.

Perhaps we should reprint them to remind ourselves

Your right the dishonest, childlike Blairite vomit that is specifically designed to deceive. Stakeholders in partnership indeed. A horse and jockey is a partnership and stakeholders in the ownership of the horse are a partnership. Its still a bit of a bar steward for the horse as he is getting whipped towards the winning line to win lots of money for the stakeholders and the partners.

Still at least the horse hasn't got to worry about access to bus lanes, parking fines and getting bashed up on a Saturday night.

Stakeholders/partners - Two bob crooks and investment bankers - o.k yar

LET'S STICK THE MINUTES UP AGAIN TO REMIND OURSELVES HOW REPRESENTATIVE THIS LOT ARE
