Hopefully going to speak to Livingstone tonight on the horrific situation we discovered in relation to suppossed driver topographical training which is being cynically abused by some agencies to pass drivers who cannot speak the language let alone read maps, plot routes or communicate in any way effectively

This is clearly linked to the safety issue and hopefully both Newhams education provider and the GMB PDB can make Ken aware of the seriousness of the issue.

The scene is set.the players are in place .its 0215 on the 2nd of march location north end croydon surrey,.imagine if you will a stadium with a crowd of up to 12,000 drink and drug fuelled revellers in an area of 1 square mile.....Suddenly the referee blows the final whistle,and the hordes of revellers are let loose on the streets......CHAOS COMES TO CROYDON YET AGAIN,  now the hordes go in searh of a cab home,and some decide that the person eyeing up their partners deserves a kicking,or that they have dissed them resulting in mass brawls breaking out .The 8 police officers watch with fascination as shop windows are put through,the screams and shouts rise to a crescendo but still they remain in their cars and wait for the bodies to disperse. I go into Katherine street where cab rank marshalls are trying to put clubbers into cabs,i am somewhat puzzled as to why the drivers of these cabs are presumably passing (tissues to the marshalls) OR SO IT SEEMS by the end of the night their pockets must have been full.i go into the HIGH st and witness pre-booked cabs being told to keep going by polce support officers who are preventing customers from  being picked up, this cause yet more fights to break out due to the frustrations of all,the local mini- cab offices are heavily besieged by revellers wanting to get home, the normally extremelly busy hackney carriage rank is deserted the drivers having long gone home.........IMAGINE if all the licensed private hire and hackneys decided to boycott the town centre next week , what would the war zone do then ,perhaps the police would devote more resources or indeed get out of the cars to prevent dissorder NOT!!!!........WELL IM OFF TO MY PIT seen enough to convince me its time to go.perhaps its different in your town ? 

OI !NORTH LONDON EEJIT*****can only imagine that life north of the thames must be very boring !dont you have clubs and bars or are the locals all playing bingo.......THE POINT IS THAT ALL CITIES /TOWNS HAVE THE SAME PROBLEMS AS SEEN IN CROYDON.these problems can lead too drivers being assaulted just for being in the wrong place and at the wrong time.The police are reluctant to intervene in this type of civil disorder ,and normally will only do so when equiped with batons /shields and riot gear....so what chance does the driver stand when being denied even the most basic protection by regulatory bodies such as the P.C.O.( am waiting to hear if any drivers were unlucky this weekend) THIS IS A NATIONAL PROBLEM dont you all agree

However I honestly cannot see how this problem could affect us if the unscrupulous proprietors were brought to book and the topographical testing was improved to involve customer care and conflict resolution, and more important than ever was handed over to an independent body, standards would rise, albeit there were fewer drivers. Fewer drivers may hurt some of these crooks scamming a living off of the backs of the drivers but it would improve safety for the travelling public and ensure we earned enough in the week so just like the London Hacks we wouldn't have to go out at that time of night at the weekend unless we were really greedy. Personally I don't want to breathe the same air as this drink and drug fuelled Saturday night human filth let alone have it in the car

Still the minister knows, thanks to the GMB Professional Drivers Branch, there is stuff going out on the telly at 7.30 on inside out next Friday at 7.30 pm, thanks to the GMB Professional Drivers Branch and hopefully the press will be hit next week. There is the launch of the campaign in Parliament on Workers Memorial Day and we need to talk about getting in touch with the RMT and Bob Crow next week re their campaign against attacks on transport workers.

AMAZING ISNT IT. either the fact that a record of attacks has been started, or alternatively the readers of forums are only interested in winding one another up over trivial matters has had a dramatic effect in stopping drivers being attacked. LETS CUT OUT THE CRAP!!! and concentrate on this the most serious of events. Perhaps you or one of your friends has suffered at the hands of muggers, thieves, or drunken thugs, if so post details on this website under the heading  GENERAL ISSUES  and on topic  marked  VIOLENCE AGAINST DRIVERS. we need as much ammunition as possible to put forward your concerns to the authorities please dont let this chance to end yobbish violence pass please put aside childish banter and unite under a common cause.
