Had a phone call from a driver who has had his license revoked because of medical grounds.The driver had a by-pass operation some time ago and was told that he would need to pass a fitness test before being allowed to drive again.the test involved execise under strain  for a period of not less than ten minutes,his 1st test results were 8min and 32 seconds and was refused,he decided to appeal to the courts.The driver was given a court date and decided to apply for a re-test of fitness this time he achieved a pass and was given a clean bill of health,unfortunately he had forgotten the court date and was subsequently told that he would have to submit a brand new application to the carriage office..........To date the driver has spent over £2,450 .00  ON LEGAL AND MEDICAL FEES .this is the equivelent of 19 years membership to the GMB PDB  the driver is not certain of regaining his license in the near future and is resigned to seeing his meagre savings being eroded by persuing his claim.The driver is not a member of the union and pleaded for help.I told him that whilst i sympathised with him, we would be unable to assist............................................
