07 Aug 2008 5:24 AM Alert

I am  taxi driver working in North Wales,  on 11th July i was the victim of a violent assualt, where i was kicked unconsious and left for dead, the indivicuals are still at large it was approximatly two weeks before the police informed me that the indivicuals would be arressted on sight, However it shocks me two think that after three days they had been identified, names and addresses, and that it was another two weeks before this course of action by the police was  to take place.  I have also been informed that the three assailants have gone to ground. With the knowledge the police are looking for them. Had the police acted quickly at the time of the asaullt, I would not be in a postion where I am now looking over my shoulder,  and hesitating when ever i let anyone in my cab. My Query is this the common responce by the police in the rest of the Uk or just North Wales?

JAGGY ,sorry to hear of your ordeal,in answer to your question i am afraid to tell you that this is pretty much the same in all areas.Police country wide have what is referred to as S.O.Ps,this relates to response levels given to crimes. Recently the GMBPDB London met with Transport for London officials concerning this very same issue, amongst these officials was a senior Home officer attatched to the serious crime unit who stated that police are to investigate any crime of violence as soon as possible, this as you can appreciate leaves room for prioritising rosters of important issues like who is making the tea...Follow the thread ASSAULTS ON DRIVERSfor further information.Keep your chin up and please let us know of any developments.

That's terrible, Jaggy. I hope you make a full and speedy recovery - both physical and mental. I don't want to slate the police but you can't help but feel that North Wales Police have zero tolerance for motoring offences...........
