Gang robs taxi driver at gunpoint
A taxi driver was threatened with a knife and gun after picking up three passengers in Manchester.
The 33-year-old picked up two men and a woman at Mancunian Lodge on Rochdale Road early on Tuesday in his Ford Transit minibus.
One of the trio grabbed the driver from behind and restrained him with the seatbelt, before his accomplice produced a knife and a gun.
They demanded cash, threatened to shoot him and drove off in the taxi.
The driver was not seriously hurt and police later found the vehicle, which is being examined.
'Frightening experience'
Det Con Gia Pasotti, of Greater Manchester Police, said: "The driver was innocently going about his business and went to pick up what he thought was a routine fare.
"However, he was confronted by offenders brandishing very dangerous weapons, including a sawn-off shotgun, which was a frightening experience.
"He did the right thing by not fighting back otherwise he could have been wounded."
