I notice that a poster on this site is now attempting to prevent his posts being downloaded. Seems strange to me that anyone would post on the www and then be ashamed of having those posts reproduced. We in the GMB will of course ignore any perceived copyright, and have naturally already downloaded many items, and will continue to do so. Of course this poster has sever literacy problems which no doubt it finds embarrassing.

The www is for full and frank exchanges of opinions, those opinions deserve maximum circulation, we will ensure they get it, we would never contemplate preventing any of our posts being published. Adulterated would be another issue!!!!!!

Just because I post on here does not in anyway mean I am "giving anything away".
I am posting under the user-name Taxis. And That is my alias I am known by to protect my Identity towards scammers and Internet fools.
All of my posts are then my property unless I give permission for the material to be used anywhere else.
OK Is that plain enough for you.
Now I post words to the effect in a signature on here so you do know.

And as far as been embarrassed, the word to answer this is NEVER.
I might get the odd spelling wrong but your the only fool that picks up on it.

I met a bloke like you on a site I owned Terry.
He was an Anti Hunt Protester..( In No Way an I about to name any individual ).
He decided to ignore my copyright notice as well !

He even tried to apologize afterwards....You know when he seen it was quite legal to copyright my material.

I have a better Idea....

"You see" I have read and copied the Privacy Statement    |    Terms Of Use  of this site...
And I think you will find I am correct...even if they are altered after today !

Now that might baffle you been who you are so I will make it simple.
It does not say I can not copyright my posts.....
So I reserve the right to do so...and I have...

I have taken advice on this matter and I will tell you the reply I have acquired.
Please do not think I am been petty Terry I am only trying to educate you, this might be handy for you to know.
Even that I know you will look at this reply as if I am having a go at you I am not this time.

On the one hand: 

Copyright is the automatic right of the creator from the point that the first 'recorded' the work in a tangible manner. In this case, from the point you type it in on the keyboard. So this would mean that as the 'creator' of the post, you are the copyright owner.

However....

In posting on the forum, you will have accepted the terms that this type of publication implies. In posting you are accepting that your content will be published by the site owner, and also that the site owner has the right to edit or delete your post as he sees fit.
 
Providing that your material is not re-edited or published outside the forum you originally posted it on the site owner can modify the post to suite the forum environment as he / she sees fit.

In short my understanding is that while you are the copyright owner, by posting on the forum you have already given the site owner permission to use your work. This does not include forum visitors.

I did not determine if your questions related to posts been removed from an online forum.
If this is the case here is the methods you can undertake
If you want to treat this as a case of copyright infringement, here's how I would proceed.

A, Write a 'cease and desist' letter to the site owners asking for your material back and for them to remove your work within 14 days.
B. Send a copy of this correspondence and a letter explaining what has happened to the ISP responsible for the site's hosting.
C. Ask the ISP if they can act to remove the 'infringing' material.
A UK based ISP is legally responsible if they knowingly allow a site to host infringing material, so if they believe an infringement has occurred they will normally act quickly to remove it, (and may even shut the site down).

Taxis.... you should know... that when you educate a idiot... you only end up with a educated idiot....

For example.... driver's safety..... good idea to call the police the filth.... really makes them want to help....

I really wanted to keep it more formal / fun than that...BUT They did not allow that option to be feesable..

We must conduct research and then accept the results. If they don't stand up to experimentation, Terry's own words must be rejected.

PERHAPS WE SHOULD EXPLAIN AGAIN, THAT NO ONE IN THE GMBPDB DISAGREES WITH YOUR AIMS ,BUT WE DID ADVISE AGAINST AS PREVIOUS EFFORTS TO PETITION THE PM FAILED MISERABLY,AND MEMBERS FELT THAT A LITTLE MORE THOUGHT AND ORGANISING WAS PREFERABLE. THIS INDUSTRY SHOULD MOVE ON AND BAND TOGETHER INSTEAD OF FIGHTING .REMEMBER THE OLD ADAGE "DIVIDE AND CONQUER"...LOL

So there is Laws and legislation to protect the innocent and see that people who commit criminal acts are punished...
It does seem from where I am sitting that if you are a GMB branch sec that British law does not apply to you...

here is me thinking that we all have to be Fit And Proper People.

I mean I would never knowingly commit any offense and personally I am shocked at how any individual that openly admits he has committed an offense can actually represent MY TRADE !
I am not part of the union and after seeing the sort of low life that stands in the front lines of the GMB I am pleased I choose not to be part of it.

You should practice what you preach ...You have the audacity to pick fault with members on here for ( dare I say acts that can be seen to be breaking the law ) and then you directly break the law by ignoring my advanced warning and publish material owned by myself.

Now I will be serious ! Is this a good role model to represent the TAXI trade ?

I might not be able to spell and my grammar may not be up to fleet street standards...But I can sit here knowing I live my life crime free and NEVER break any law or legislation.

I would like you to consider allowing a honest fit and proper person to take your position that you have in the GMB, not that I am bothered but I do feel sorry for your members ! They do deserve better.
