A 19-year-old woman pedestrian was taken to hospital with serious injuries after she was hit by a taxi at Gatwick Airport. Police said the woman, from Surrey, was taken to the East Surrey Hospital in Redhill after the crash on Wednesday evening.

Appealing for witnesses, PC Matthew Grimson said the taxi was a Peugeot 406 being driven north on the Perimeter Road East at the airport. He said the taxi driver, a 26-year-old man from Crawley, was not hurt.
