The leader of Southend council at a press conference yesterday announced the immediate stopping of issuing Hack plates for 3 years and no resumption until an unmet demand survey deemed it necessary.This comes just 4 months after GMBPDB involvement, the promise of 20000 drunks let loose on a Saturday night somewhat concentrated their attention.
Terence Flanagan of the GMB said
" this council once we were involved very quickly changed their tune, along with excellent support from the Southend LTDA and by harrassing the politicians this was achieved.
Next a multitude of issues, Ranks. Testing Criteria etc. all of which will be addressed in the same manner this was a help but there is much more to be done the membership in the town will ensure it is!!"
