It would seem the message is getting through at last Associations however well intentioned don't have the Political Clout, the Organisational skills , or the Press Power of the GMB Professional Drivers Branch's. So far this year I have been instrumental in forming GMBPDB Branches in Leed's Yeovil Hull Bracknell Southend on sea Hereford St Albans Stevenage Clacton Mid Sussex .     with meetings lined up for Chelmsford [tomorrow] Newport [Wales] Sheffield Basildon and many other areas.

Our tactics of CONFRONTATION both Politically Industrially and through the Media are proving highly successfull, quite clearly the old pathectic legal route is defunct. Making lawyers rich was never goung to assist the industry, the only legal route we use in the Freedom Of Information Act which can give Licensing Officcers some sleepless nights! our pleasure!!

Naturally were a council to require a legal kicking we have the resources and expertise to inflict it, but we prefer dealing with the p[oliticians they are much more vulnerable.

We recently obtained an unmet demand survet for our members in Bracknell and will be persuing other councils for this survey where they wish it.

The message is clear Join the GMB now the proven organisation for our industries!!

Chelmsford Signing Up with the GMB for the fight ahead. We have nothing left to fight for in Chelmsford anymore.

Way too many Hackney Carriages, no rank spaces, No CUSTOMERS due to the recession.

All we ask for is common sense in these troubled times but wat do we get, more and more cars and ever increasing fees from our beloved council.

The standard of service has in recent years nose dived due to many new inexperienced drivers doing the job.

Watch this space.

Hi Tezmichel,

welcome on here mate, its been a bit quiet for a while now.
but it seems to be picking up again.

the problem with the councils is all the money they get from licensing fees etc.
so its in their interests to keep on issuing licenses and plates.

Last week met Chelmsford Drivers!

Today they, through the GMB label get coverage of their issues on the Local Radio station and coverage in both local papers, has the Penny Dropped??????????????

Adopted similiar tactics in Clacton last week, result meeting scheduled with,

Chair of Licensing Ctte
Vice Chair of Licensing Ctte
Head of Licensing Dept
Deputy head of Legal Services [responsible for Licensing]
Officcer from Essex County Council responsible for Ranks

The method used to instigate this was press releases, Radio Interviews, STRIKE THREATS!!

Naturally we have now withdrawn Strike Threat, but of course they are fully aware mess around and we instigate STRIKE unannounced!!

Just a normal week for the Professionals in the GMB Professional Drivers Branch.
