A 34-year-old taxi driver has been arrested following a crash on Tyneside in which a man and woman were injured.
Police said the 23-year-old man and woman, 18, were hurt when they were hit by a car as they crossed Neville Street outside Newcastle Central Station.
The taxi driver was arrested on Saturday on suspicion of careless driving and is being questioned.
The man is critical but stable with head and leg injuries and the woman is stable with facial injuries.
