Cops put rape girl in a taxi

TWO cops marched a crying rape victim found naked in the street at 1am to a cab firm – and made her pay the fare home.

The PCs, said to be nearing a tea break, were alerted by passers-by.

The £70,000-a-year executive, in her 30s, had been brutally attacked after a night out on a Thames partyboat.

She was left with only a black T-shirt to cover her.

Furious colleagues of the beat officers are shocked they did not drive her home – or to a hospital or police station.

She was led to a cab office near Southwark tube station, South London, where staff told The Sun she desperately tried to cover herself up.

Last night Scotland Yard insisted the cops were unaware she had been raped. A relative – unable to pick her up – agreed she should go home by taxi. The victim, who is white, reported the July 4 attack the next day.

But a senior source said: “It should have been clear that she may have been sexually assaulted. To top it off, they then put her in cab with another strange man.

“Detectives believe they lost forensic opportunities.”

Shockingly, police think she may have been raped by an unlicensed TAXI DRIVER who drove her round before the attack. Det Insp Keith Richardson said: “It would explain why we’ve not picked her up on CCTV. She is unable to say what happened.”

Anyone with information should call 020 8721 3553 or Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
