I am currently workinbg as a bus driver and have been for the last 5 years, but i'm getting sick of it now and i have been offered a black LTI TX1 1998 so i snapped it up,  it needs a bit of work doing on it  i reckon about £500 wil get it up to scratch with local council regulations.

Gonna be driving in burnley, never drove a taxi before but did work as a telephone operator for a busy private hire firm years ago.

I just searched for taxi forums on google and this one came up first,  so here i am. Basically here for some advice really and pointer the pros and experienced drivers may have for me, i am looking forward to being an active member of this community.

BTW,  i'm good with computers and electronics so if anyone needs help then just give me a shout

theres no real work here,  there too many black cab,  but i'm with a large so i can just make by,  dont rent a cab as it wont be worth it for you,  i think there is more money in private hire but only if you tout for business.

before joining the big firm i was only makin around £50 gross a day,  then remove food and fuel and you get left with peanuts,  you get no help from the other cabbies as all they want to do is cut your throat, its a dog eat dog world mate, and i aint no stranger to it as i had an idea of what i was getting myself into

thanks for the speedy reply!!

I have been to council office to change my badge to hackney, was a bit gutted to hear they want another £75 to change it to hackney badge !!!. I have tried Private Hire in burnley and thing is you ve got to work for the bases(private hire operators) as a driver on hourly wage and they pay S*** wages, and it was too rigid so I only lasted few days. I am now doing private hire in a nearby town but it is a bit of a treck everyday and I would much prefer to work local. I am giving hackney a try not for money as much but more for flexibility to work me own ours...... Do you know anyone selling black cab at a decent price ? cheers

hello,  one year on and i'm still here, still cabbing, the old cab i bought has run out of its shelf life with the council so just got myself a 55 plate TXII.

I have also got a few drivers together and got them to join the GMB, hopefully things will get better in the near future
