A taxi driver from Bridlington has been injured after three teenagers tried to rob him, police say.

The 59-year-old man was attacked after picking up the trio from a kiosk in Boynton Avenue in the town.

After the youths got into his cab, the driver was grabbed from behind, threatened and told to hand over his takings, a police spokesman said.

He managed to release himself, suffering cuts to his hands and face. The group fled the taxi empty-handed.
