Hello all and thanks for looking. I was just wondering if there was anyone out there who drove a Taxi or Private Hire with Monocular Vision?. Reason is I have applied to Lancaster City Council and I have bee rejected on the grounds that I cannot pass the group 2 standard as I have no sight in one eye. If anyone has any information about this I would so obliged if you could let me know. Cheers Paul

Yea thats it mate, Most councils require this now and if you dont pass it you wont be able to become a Cabbie. I know lots of people who couldnt renew their licence due to eyesight problems.. Its a shame because my licence lasts for 3 years but when i come to renew it i am worried my eyesight will let me down.

Yep thanks for that - but you may of missed the question. I am fighting the council to prove that I am fit and proper to be allowed to drive as the group 2 standard is not law and only a preference. There must be someone out there who has fought this. Who knows I may be the first but I am not just going to roll over and let them get away with it. If you lose your sight due to illness then fine - but my eyesight is perfect - no glasses or anything. Let me know your thoughts. Regards Paul
