Hi guys was searching for some answers on a hackney carriage V private hire issue and was wondering if you could help me?  Basically, a private hire operator is trying to open up a booking office (including taking base customers) opposite the main taxi rank where i work and me and my colleagues aren't too happy with the local council for allowing them to do this!  Is there any way we can legally close this office down, i.e. PHV's operating too close to a taxi rank?  Also there is no parking for the PHV's.  All help appreciated, many thanks!

theres many cases similiar to this one up and down the country.

Maybe Nick could offer you advice or even hopper or phone 07966 220535 and ask for Keith Jeffreys he will give you the low down.

Did someone mention my name? lol

I know some LA's at least insist that an office has nearby off road parking for all of the vehicles

that operate from it but whether that is true of all LA's I don't know.

Good suggestion to phone Keith Jeffreys

Get in touch with your local planning officer and object to the office receiving planning permission.. do not do it as one group... as many singular objections as possible.. and also get the local shops to object you have explained that the private hire vehicles will be taking up the valuable parking spaces of their customers, and also contact the local inspector of police and point out the confrontation this will cause between the hackney and private hire.
