Hi everyone, im new to the game having just started as a private hire driver. Im currently hiring a Mondeo but want to buy my own car asap and im wondering if you can use a car thats been previously recored as category C but had its VIC check as a taxi?

It generally depends on the council you are using together with the checks it must pass to qualify as a taxi. I would say if you have this approved you may have more trouble getting the vehicle insured at the correct level. With a CAT C or D write off generally the value will plummet and insuring the vehicle may be more difficult than usual.
