Hi all,

Been considering for sometime about getting into this business, I've made some enquiries with my local authority and it seems like i'd be better off getting an operators licence rather than working for someone else. Now I appreciate that I'd have to drum up work for myself etc and that'll take time and money however assuming I can slog it out it'll pay divis in the long term.

I've also considered the operators software and to be honest I can't tell one from the other other than that they all try and sell you stuff I recon is either over priced or not required. Any thoughts / advise as to the best systems, suffice to say there are some very cheap systems which while basic I recon may do the job, eg www.controlpanel.net and intrans.it and other cheaper systems. Also another system which I think you could use is TomTom Work. Can anyone elaborate on this for me?

Another question I have is how has the industry faired since the recession, have you seen people cut back on using you, if so by how much i.e. is it the weekenders to are saving their pennies or your day to day users etc I'd really like to hear from you guys?

Bearing this in mind do you see a price war on fares coming up or do you think these will stay stable?

I live in the South East and we have four airports within an hour of central London, I'd like to cater for this market by having a vehicle something like a Viano, Scudo or similar. Any thoughts here on this choice of business and which vehicle to choose?

I'll have more questions no doubt to come but recon the above will keep some of you busy for a while.

cheers all.

Richard
