Looks like i've been scammed by these B*@#ards. I started my new minibus business in October 2009 and was soon contacted by Vicky.
I was a little unsure about this company but being a new business & wanting more customers i paid £249 + vat and signed up. I did have a feeling that this was too good to be true but like and idiot I still signed up.
I did receive a few quotes from them, but when i tried to contact the so called customers i didn't get any replies which makes me think that these were fictitious people setup by betterfares themselves.
I've just been ringing all Betterfares contact numbers but it appears you cannot get through; suprise, suprise.
I've now been in contact with salford trading standards

WARNING TO ANYONE BEING CONTACTED BY THESE PEOPLE.
STAY AWAY FROM THEM - DO NOT SIGN UP

I HAVE USED BETTER FARES FOR 8 MONTHS NOW AND I AM GETTING 2-3 JOBS PER WEEK!

BUT I HAD TO MAKE SURE MY RATES WERE VERY COMPETITIVE.

i HAVE PUT £1.10 PER MILE FOR CAR

£1.35 FOR MPV

I THINK THIS SHOULD HELP YOU GUYS GET THE BOOKINGS COMING THROUGH AS IT WORKED FOR ME WHEN I WAS NOT GETTING MUCH BOOKINGS COMING THROUGH. JUST ANOTHER INSIDER MAKE SURE YOU REPLY TO THE EMAILS AS QUICKLY AS POSSIBLE AS LEADS DO GET COLD IF THEY ARE NOT REPLIED TO QUICKLY.

THUMBS UP FOR ME FOR BETTERFARES

Just managed to get through to betterfares & spoke with a Chris Mortimer who claims to be the manager. He did talk with an asian accent which leaves me to believe that Chris Mortimer is not his real name. After complaining about the lack of business i was getting from them, he said he could prove to me that they were providing my details to companies out there and could put a tracking device on my website to prove this. He had the cheek to tell me that this would cost me £99 and i would get my money back if not satified.
He point blank refused to refund me my initial £249 + vat and was quite rude.
Also spoke with another taxi business in my local area that have also fell for this con.

Fantastic Company!

Had one of their sales people call me a month ago and paid them £249 + VAT for 12 months worth of advertising on their website and direct bookings. I was thinking that i was going to get small jobs but I got 2 large contracts and made over £1500 from them over Christmas. So I am up £1250 I hope it stays this way.

Looking forward to more business from Betterfares in the coming months. I guess their might be more work up north as I am in Manchester but for me its worth every penny.

PLEASE DONATE FOR THE HAITI EARTHQUAKE!!!!!

To make a donation to the DEC Haiti Earthquake Appeal visit www.dec.org.uk or call 0370 60 60 900, donate over the counter at any post office or high street bank, or send a cheque made payable to ‘DEC Haiti Earthquake Appeal’ to ‘PO Box 999, London, EC3A 3AA’.

I would like to thank Better fares for generating me excellent bookings from East Midlands Airport. I understand in the current climate that bookings will not be as high as last year but I did make a good return on investment thus far.

I have loved the jobs for SKY, EasyJet business customers, please send me more!

Keep up the hard work and will defiantly be renewing my service with your company.

Hmmm... Odd that this company has been taking a virtual beating for the last 5 months and within the last 24 hours there have been 3 positive reviews...

I apologise if I have this wrong bain26, mancab & kez007, but I trust the above positive reviews about as much as a poker player with a smile on their face.

If you are legitimate registered taxi/ph companies, I'm sure you will have no problems divulging where you are and what you're called... That will only be positive for Better Fares.

Until such time, I assume the above reviews are as genuine as the letters from their local licensing authority asking for homepage links from all their members :-)

All the best, Pete

Hi Pete,
bain26, mancab & kez007 seem to me written by betterfare poeple themselves. Otherwise, I also ask them to give their company names & contact tel nos to confirm what they claim.
Lets suppose one of them was right in claiming that he got £1500 worth in business over the Christmas period, do we pay about %20 commission to get business?
I remind you again of their next trick, which is passing 'account' jobs with the promise of paying later.. Don't be conned and accept such jobs, Yassir will just not pay for these prepaid jobs, as he did to me.

Interesting what you find when you start looking... Seems these guys are no strangers to court... although, it appears that they didn't bother to show up... www.steveroot.co.uk/2008/01/spam-wars-deter.html

Maybe trading standards will have more luck?!?

Hi Pete
Your right in what you are saying. When i spoke with the so called Chris Mortimer the other day I told him that I could not find one positive report about Betterfares anywhere on the internet, low and behold a couple of hours later we find there is one postive report posted on this forum. Then within 24 hours we find another 2 positives.
I think you are also right in saying that these 3 companies are made up otherwise they would tell us who they are and where they are based.
If i had gained any work from a company like this I would be more than happy to share my information with everyone.
As someone else has already suggested maybe we should all get in touch with Andrew Penmann & Nick Sommerland who write a page in the Daily Mirror every week on dodgey companies their email address is [email protected]

I have also just found another company registered at the same address as Betterfares. This is called RBC CLAIMS MANAGEMENT, specialising in claiming compensation back from banks etc, this is for a small upfront fee of course.

Hi, Steve Root here. Thanks for pointing me to this thread Pete.

I imagine bain26, mancab & kez007 aren't real from my experience. As I blogged:
Spammer comments on my blog pretending to be someone else! www.steveroot.co.uk/2008/02/spammer-comment.html.
If there's an interest, I'll help the admins & moderators here analyse the server logs which may show the link between bain26, mancab & kez007 to Yasser. Of course it would be nice if they could just identify themselves rather than look like they've got something to hide.

Yasser hasn't paid up and I've not spent the time to follow it up. Next step is to have a court order for Yasser or other directors to appear in court. As Yasser knows I've tried once but the 'occupier' of the house said he'd moved to London. I've not made time to follow that up..... but I still could ....

Here is yet another judgement against Chriss/Yassir Hussain the crook of betterfare:

Trouble is... this is a tremendous advert for becoming a conman... A trial of bad experiences and complaints about being ripped off and yet years later they are still doing the same thing.

Full credit to Steve for taking them to court... but surely that's not for him to do... these guys are clearly not into legitimate business so why are trading standards not doing something about them? It's shocking...!

Best of luck to all of you who try and get your money back... any of you paid on credit card within the last 12 months I suggest you charge the transaction back through your issuing bank. If a company suffers disproportionate level of charge backs, banks can withdraw payment facilities... also, if they don't have the money in the bank to cover the chargebacks, their bank WILL chase the deficit with a significant amount of vigour.

All the best!
Irene

Hi, just checked my email and got a betterfares 'taxiquote' with a link to your forum, signed up to let you know I've been had too. I rang to complain once about lack or no jobs and Chris and Vicky told me I was charging too much. Even at a pound a mile we have never secured a job through them, since last August. Any advice?

Looks like these people are very experienced con men.
The following comapnies all have the same trading address as Betterfares;
Compare The Instructors,
Taxi Quoter,
Pendle Taxis,
Tradesmen Quoter
RBC Claim Management.
3 of these also have the same telephone number as Betterfares.

All of these companies claim to be able to guarantee you work for a small annual fee.
Looks like there could be thousands of people out there who have fallen for the same scam as us.

I'm not going to let this go, I am determind to go whatever it takes to get these companies closed down.

As I said previously, if we all contact the Daily Mirror Investigates team, i'm sure they would seriously look into these people.
