It would appear that someone has been sending PMs to about 30 TDO members touting another taxi forum. Laughing Laughing

PMs along the line of;

national taxi forum

brand new national taxi forum

How sad is that?

But maybe the saddest part is that he sent a PM to a member of TDO who was only a member because her mum died following a nasty incident with a cab driver.

Now that's desperate.

seems you didnt mind nick  [JD] when they were actively promoting your site and getting you new members each month . look how your site membership as slowed down
gone very quiet your site now asn't it since you wrote [allegedly] the info used by the NCC. seems you are a popular man and very much in demand in some quarters [allegedly]

even in a meeting in Carlisle regarding your witch hunt you were being laughed at by the licensing and association members there.

I do not mind if you call me JD, I could have a little practice at being nasty , it seems as if the people that post are now being looked at as if they are a commodity everybody seems to be protective and even obsessively controlling, I wonder why .

Nick,

As I understand it we posted messages on all the current forums... I don't see it as desperate, just dissemination... There is no desperation in our approach. With something close to 30'000 unique users per month going through our network of sites, I don't think we are in the throws of desperation just yet!

As Batus correctly points out, we actively promoted TDO for some time, but unfortunately it is my understanding that the anonymity of JD caused some problems for the magazine which led to a breakdown in the relationship...

Obviously we saw the figures of the users they were receiving from us and wanted to harness these in a truly open forum. Hence TaxiForums was created.

Tony, please feel free to correct anything I've said here that is not factually accurate.

Regards

Pete

Another quick point I would like to make...

Can we stop the guessing games with regards to who's who... If Sussex, Alex, TDO, Skull, CGull, JD or whatever they want to be known as or any others want to post under more aliases, what's the problem? Most people don't know who they are anyway, so what's the problem?

Are their views not as welcome/valid as anyone elses?

Personally, I don't like the cloak and danger nature of deliberately obscuring your id, but whatever floats your boat...!

That's my opinion anyhooo.

Regards

Pete

Pete. I was not referring to this forum in particular, on this forum I am Nick. I believe that as an adult we all have the right to choose where and when we post, and I also believe that there is no real harm in trying to attract new members, if the site is good people will stay, if it is crap then bye-bye. spin the penny and see where it falls.

Absolutely agree...

I believe we have a good little forum here and over time with the exposure the group can generate, I have no doubt it will grow to be a massive success... just not keen on all the sniping... but difficult to promote free speech without tolerating others.

Pete

yes there was a breakdown in the relationship through anonymity. i understand why JD feels the need for this. but it was causing problems through word of mouth in the wrong circles. there was accusations flying around from various sides.

we promoted TDO for probably the best part of 18months to 2 years, and when we were looking at stats going from www.taxi-today.com we realised just how much was been generated in traffic between the sites. a forum was always planned and i did mention to Alex on TDO about taking them under www.taxi-today.com where we could get all the traffic under one banner by directing TDO's traffic by way of redirecting / forwarding it on to ours. and splitting the advertising revenue between us all. it wasn't long after we discussed this that there was a breakdown in the relationship mainly in point to the Carlisle issue raised by JD. to do with the station rank. this was when i was getting various phone calls from LO's trade associations and a Union in Manchester saying under hand tactics had been used. it was about a week later i  and Wayne casey  were accused of following JD's associate from my home address after collecting a payment for the work JD had done for Editorial in the Feb issue of Taxi-Today. apparrently JD's associate recognised Wayne Casey in a following vehicle. but Wayne Casey was in Scotland which he can prove as he was on a job,  he was doing a job for Virgin trains after the accident which closed down the north west rail line when the virgin train crashed. I can understand why he as a need for anonymity but its caused so many problems its a shame theres a need for it.

if any of the above is wrong i'm sure Wayne and Nick [JD] can put their piece in to give their spin on it.

Hence the reason we started our own Thermidor... not that I/we agree/disagree with what they rally for, but there are 2 sides to every argument and we are happy to actively discuss both.
