The GMB currently has some Professional Drivers Branch members in Derwentside evidently! they come under GMB northern region, for more info Contact Mick Pollard on 07852 253 572 or GMB NORTHERN REGION on 0191 233 3930 ask for Billy Coates or Chris Jukes officers leading the formation of Professional Drivers Branches in that area! I am certain that they will be able to address your local issues. Sam as of yet I dont think they have a Taxi Hiring facility, but they do have an arrangment with Cab Aid where if your vehicle is pranged, they supply a replacement vehicle whilst yours is being repaired, and if not already a member GIVE you 1 years free GMBPDB membership!Feel free to contact me if you like on 07958 275 339, i will return your call at no cost to you.

Right PHin london was run as part of the black economy, many drivers were on benefit, cars un-insured,drivers not licenced, illegal immigrants, jail birds on the run, and of course this applied to the Owners of companies as well. Subsequently no-body considerd seriously organising Drivers, i didnt think it viable. There was an Owners association The LPHCA which pushed for and was successfull in instigating licencing. They didnt at that time consider Bus Lanes. Once the Mayoral system was instigated it was obvious to me that Ken would get the job, despite the objections of Tony Bliar and Brown! Given that scenario we can hardly be fairly critisized for not at that time publicly pursuing the Bus lane issue. Obviously behind the scenes conversations took place, and the Con Zone and Red Routes were considerd easier to obtain for the industry. What our critcs need to consider is WHAT are you doing in your neck of the woods, and what are your chances of success as an Association or an individual of being succesfull?? Our estimation is that no matter how hard you try, you can only benefit yourselves, or your Ass s by joining the GMB, and thereby the entire industry nationwide!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
AGITATE ORGANISE EDUCATE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! |
