29 Jun 2008 6:00 PM Alert

Hi, i am new to the forum, this is my first post. we have just bought a metrocab mk 111 1999.

both my wife an myself are disabled, my wife has m.s. therefor uses a wheelchair permanently ,

so we have found taxi's as great vehicles for us. our first taxi was a fx4s  which we bought about ten years ago. when this finally came to an end,we then bought a fairway, this was a fantastic cab, but unfortunately  the rust really started to get in to it, although mechanically it was still sound, as the fantastic nissan 2.7 engines go on forever, we had to let it go.

we have now bought a metrocab mk 111 which is a 1999. we thought we would go for a metrocab, as being fibreglass or grp as they call it, we would not have to worry about it rusting or leaking so much as our fairway did.

we will probably have several questions in the future about our metrocab, but the first question i have is regarding the immobiliser, we were only given one key for the immobiliser, and we are a bit worried if this one breaks or gets lost. is there anywhere we can get a replacement for this,as it is only a little plastic chip i am worried it will break, then we might be stranded as we will not be able to start it.

if there is not anywhere we can get a duplicate, is it possible to have the factory fitted immobiliser disconnected and have one with a switch fitted.

sorry this has been rather long i hope you can take the time to read it, and we thank you for any assistance you can give us with  this problem.

                        thank you

Sorry WOODY but I can't answer your query, I have copied and pasted your post into another forum that is a lot busier than this one and hoping someone will come back with an answer.

In the meantime there is a garage in Birmingham that specialises in Metro-cab repairs might be a idea to give them a ring.

Midland Metro-cab repairs: 0121 523 7784

Why don't you get a proper job???

phone Birmingham Taxi Warehouse on 0121 328 2221 they were the biggest supplier of metro's outside of London.
Think the owner Jim Nicholl's may of had something to do with metro early doors.

they serviced and repaired them so you should get your answer there
